Sicamous Fire Department
The Sicamous Fire Department provides Fire Protection Services to the District of Sicamous as well as providing this service via an agreement to specific Columbia Shuswap residents. Our Mandate is to save lives, preserve property and protect the environment. We continue to improve our technology, training and public education to keep our residents safe.
Our Command staffing consists of Part-time Fire Chief Brett Ogino, Deputy Fire Chief Clayton Allen, Captain Chris Wilson and Lieutenant Kevin Allen. Our crew consists of 15 to 30 paid on-call firefighters. Their duties may include Driver, Pump Operator, Fire Fighter, Safety and Support. There is an important need for new recruits and applications are being accepted at the Sicamous District Office.
Sicamous Fire Hall
The Sicamous Fire Hall is located at 701 Whitehead Street. The hall houses four Fire Trucks, two Engines, one Tender and one Ladder Truck as well as our restored 1928 Gotfredson Fire Truck, the first Fire Truck to be purchased for Sicamous. We also accommodate the Sicamous Rescue Truck in one bay. Our training room, activity room, offices, kitchen, showers, sauna and washrooms are also situated in the Fire Hall.
Our training night is 7 pm every Tuesday. We also use the Shuswap Regional Fire Training Center in Salmon Arm. A variety of training topics are covered in-house, while Live Fire and Emergency Vehicle Driver Training, only two of a wide selection of courses are covered at the SRFTC and UNSR Training Facilities.
The District encourages eligible persons to consider volunteering on the Fire Department. For inquiries, please contact Fire Chief Brett Ogino
