Building & Development

The Development Services Department is responsible for land-use planning and reviews, processing and approving development applications brought before Council, administering and issuing building permit applications and conducting inspections in accordance with the the BC Building Code and the District's Building Regulations Bylaw. Permits are generally required for new construction projects or major renovations that involve building, demolition and plumbing activities.

Please email your applications to developmentservices@sicamous.ca and/or hand deliver to the District Office Clerk at Municipal Hall which is located at 446 Main Street and is open to the public between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Once application fees are paid, the review process will begin.

District of Sicamous Official Community Plan 

District Zoning Bylaw & Map 

The District Zoning Bylaw regulates how land, buildings and other structures may be used in the municipality. The current Zoning Bylaw was adopted in 1993 and is under draft review.

Building Regulations Bylaw

The District's Building Regulations Bylaw outlines the authority of the District Building Official, responsibilities of the owner, prohibitions under the Bylaw, permit requirements and applications, inspections and occupancy permits and prohibitions under the bylaw. 

Development Application Procedures Bylaw

The Development Application Procedures Bylaw establishes the fees and applications to amend the Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw and for permits under Part 26 of the Local Government Act

Revitalization Tax Exemption Bylaw  

This Bylaw allows the District to provide development tax incentives for the purpose of encouraging revitalization areas in within the municipality.

Monthly Building Reports are presented to Council during the first Council Meeting held the month following. Council Meetings are generally held every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 5:00 p.m. in Council Chambers located at 446 Main Street.
