Saltwater Hank, Danny Bell and KERN live

Sunday, May 06, 2018
7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Location: Owlhead Creek Bed and Breakfast

Come out to this lovely show with Saltwater Hank and Danny Bell from Prince George and KERN from Nelson (but born in the north Okanagan) at the Owlhead Creek BnB. https://saltwaterhank.bandcamp.com/album/stories-from-the-northwest https://dannybell.bandcamp.com/releases
https://iamkern.bandcamp.com/album/had-to-happen-ep

Saltwater Hank (Prince George, BC) Historically speaking, many have come and gone before us without broad notice, despite having made significant impacts during their lives. These are the stories that Saltwater Hank sinks his teeth into, spinning them into timeless folk songs with a penchant for a jig.

Born in Prince Rupert, BC and a member of the Gitga’at community, Tsimshian folk artist Saltwater Hank resurrects stories of the land, loss and absurd circumstance and shines them through a sepia lens, witnessing ageless characters with hearts and lives on the line.

Danny Bell Music: Danny Bell's songs are pure & simple, sweeping superfluity off of the table so we can stay near the filthy ground. They celebrate the beauty and sorrow of everyday life, in good humour. "Danny Bell's lyrics are so real they are irrefutable, undeniable, so honest and powerful and touching." - Scott Dunbar

Kern: Kern is an alter ego for Hannah DeBoer-Smith to work through self, relationships, mental health and place. Her soon to be released 4 track EP is a conversation about a year living with the darkest parts of anxiety and depression but also the hope contained within those experiences. In sharing these songs and openly telling the story that surround them, her goal is to make people who struggle with mental health just feel less alone. Her motive for telling her own story is one to create her own path of healing, exposing her demons to the light of day can turning the monsters in the closet into dust bunnies, and to show that others are not alone in their struggle. https://soundcloud.com/kernnerk

Buy BC: Eat Drink Local

Thursday, May 31, 2018
May 31, 9:00 am - Jun 30, 9:00 pm

Location: All Restaurants

Buy BC: Eat Drink Local is a hub for drinking and dining locally in BC. In May, we are launching our first province wide opportunity to dine out in restaurants that are highlighting the great tastes that BC has to offer. Restaurants across the province will be featuring local produce, meat, fish dishes on the menu paired, when possible, with local beers, wines and spirits. It's about celebrating BC flavours, having restaurants inspire your taste buds and providing unique local dining experiences. Our website www.eatdrinklocal.ca is a year round resource to look for taste experiences that proudly support BC farmers, producers, harvesters and growers first.
