Public Hearing Not Held: Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1073, 2024 (Small-Scale, Multi-Unit Housing)

In accordance with Section 467 of the Local Government Act, the District of Sicamous hereby gives notice that no public hearing will be held for Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1073, 2024.

Be advised that council is prohibited from holding a public hearing for this bylaw under section 464 (4) of the Local Government Act and Bill 44, Housing Statues (Residential Development) Amendment Act to comply with Bill 44. This public notice that a public hearing is prohibited is required prior to the first reading of Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1073, 2024.

The intent of Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1073, 2024 is to update the District of Sicamous Zoning Bylaw ensuring its compliance with Bill 44 by:

  • Increasing the maximum permitted residential density and maximum height of Principal Dwelling Unit under residential zones; and
  • Relaxing setback requirements where applicable to provide flexibilities in building form, size and its siting.

The bylaw may be viewed at Municipal Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays, or online.

First, second and third reading of Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1073, 2024 will be considered by council at the July 10, 2024, regular council meeting starting at 5 p.m. in council chambers. The Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1073, 2024 may be adopted on the same day as per the Section 480 of the Local Government Act.
