The operation of any aircraft not associated with fire suppression activities (including drones and unmanned areal vehicles) near wildfire is illegal.

Transport Canada and the BC Wildfire Service explicitly prohibit the use of drones of any size near a wildfire.

Unauthorized drone flights pose serious risks to firefighter and public safety as well as the effectiveness of wildfire suppression operations.

When drones are operated near wildfires, fire response agencies cannot continue to fly aircrafts for fire suppression. Delaying airborne response poses a threat to firefighters on the ground, residents and property in nearby communities and can allow wildfires to grow larger.

Don't be that person - keep drones on the ground during wildfire situations.
