Mosquito Control

The District of Sicamous has a Pest Management Plan that allows for effective prevention and control of larval mosquitoes including in all public and private lands by permission of the owner, agent or authority.

The District acquired BWP Consulting Inc. to undertake a Mosquito Control & Surveillance Program from March 31, 2023 to December 31, 2025, with the option to renew annually for up to a total of five years.

Treatment

Typically treatment occurs the beginning of May but is water level and weather dependent. The product used in BC has biological agents to control larva - "larvicides". Product is applied using backpack blowers and helicopters. The District's contractor for mosquito control monitors standing water and applies treatment as needed - some areas are difficult to get to!

Standing water reporting

It is important to report standing water where mosquito larva may be present. If you see standing water that you feel should be treated, please let us know in the form below and we may be able to treat it through our program.
