Call for Volunteers: DOSDC Board of Directors

"The District of Sicamous Development Corporation's mandate is to help advance the District of Sicamous’ financial, social, business and community goals through the development of the District’s surplus land holdings, strategic acquisition of properties for redevelopment and the acquisition of income-generating properties."

The District of Sicamous is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving as a volunteer on the District of Sicamous Development Corporation (DOSDC) Board of Directors.

Four two-year positions will be appointed at the May 22 DOSDC AGM.

To serve on the DOSDC Board, you must:

  • Not be disqualified under section 124 of the Business Corporations Act;
  • Reside in Sicamous or the Columbia Shuswap region;
  • Commit to a two-year term and participate in bi-monthly meetings as well as committees established by the board; and
  • Demonstrate skills and experience relevant to the DOSDC mandate.

Time Commitment:

Individuals who are appointed to the board are required to participate in an orientation to learn about their role, responsibilities and legal duties as a director. The board meets bi-monthly in January, March, May, July, September and November to assist with general oversight, policy development, project overview and financial review. The time commitment is approximately three to five hours a month.

DOSDC Priority Projects:

  • Build and develop programs and initiatives using the DOSDC Strategic Plan as a guide, focusing on the following pillars:
    • Business Retention And Expansion
    • Tourism Product Development
    • Land Acquisition, Development and Housing
  • A downtown redevelopment/revitalization plan
  • Highway commercial development
  • Identifying industries and businesses for relocation or start-up within Sicamous
  • Exploring partnerships with Splatsin, the Splatsin Development Corporation, the City of Enderby, and other public and private entities
  • Identifying potential partners to build affordable and attainable housing developments in Sicamous
  • Invest in an Economic Impact Assessment of the overall Tourism Industry & Amenities

Applications must be received by March 31, 2024, to be considered.
