Council recently updated its Good Neighbour Bylaw to address concerns related to excessive light or odour that interfere with the peace or enjoyment of others in Sicamous.

“Nuisance” is further defined as any activity or omission that unreasonably interferes with an individual’s use, enjoyment, peace, convenience, or comfort of public or private land.

"Noise and Nuisances” are described under Part 3 of the bylaw.

General Nuisance Regulations:

  1. A person must not do or cause any act which constitutes a nuisance.
  2. An owner or occupier of real property must not permit any act or thing to be done which constitutes a nuisance on that real property.
  3. An owner or occupier of real property must not allow or permit light from an exterior source to be placed or lit in such a way that creates a nuisance.
  4. An owner or occupier of real property must not make, cause, or permit excessive emission of smoke, dust, gas, sparks, ash, soot, cinders, fumes, or other effluvia into the atmosphere.
