It was recently reported in the media that the District of Sicamous is involved in a lawsuit over the replacement of the Solsqua-Sicamous Bridge. A notice of civil claim was filed but not served. Following the completion of the project, the District intended to work with VVI Construction to address identified deficiencies and ensure the terms of the contract were satisfied. This became no longer possible when VVI Construction became bankrupt in 2022. At that time, the District engaged Western Surety, the insurance company that holds VVI’s performance bonds for the project. As negotiations with Western Surety are ongoing, the District cannot comment further at this time.
