Daytime closures of Highway 1 for the R.W. Bruhn Bridge replacement project will extend through Wednesday, June 25, 2025, after which the new summer construction schedule will begin.

The Ministry of Transportation and Transit has authorized this 10-day schedule extension to facilitate work required to conduct additional rock scaling following the rockslide that occurred on June 5 above Highway 1, west of the bridge. For public and worker safety, these activities can only take place with a full highway closure.

Highway 1 remains safe for use. These extra 10 days of schedule will reinforce work completed last week and minimize risk of future occurrence.

During full closures, all through-traffic will use the Alternate Route via Highway 97A/97B. Local traffic is available with traffic control assist between downtown Sicamous and Old Sicamous Road/Old Spallumcheen Road. More information is available on the Ministry's project website.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as this important work is completed to keep Highway 1 safe and open for use and to help ensure future slope stability.

With warmer days upon us and summer holidays beginning, travelers are asked to plan for delays and consider leaving early, watch for and obey construction signs, follow traffic control measures in place and drive according to road conditions.
