Meet Planning Assistant June Kwon

April 10, 2024 —The District of Sicamous is pleased to introduce planning assistant June Kwon, who joined the development services team in March of 2024. 

"I was inspired to apply for the position by the fascinating nature and passionate local characteristics of Sicamous," shares Kwon, adding he is excited about the opportunity to volunteer with the Sicamous Fire Department. 

Kwon has experience working in conceptual development and the composition of as-built drawings. He brings his academic background in architecture to the district's development services department. In his new role, Kwon will assist in planning activities including processing applications, responding to public inquiries, preparing materials for public meetings and improving the efficiency of the development services department. 

"I am excited to witness the growth of the community," Kwon says. "I look forward to collaborating with the passionate people who show interest in Sicamous." 

Outside of the office, Kwon loves reading books (usually philosophy and classics), mountain biking and exploring. He also spends time fixing and modifying his car and bike. 

"I would like to express my gratitude for the warm welcome expressed by the District of Sicamous council and staff," Kwon says. "And a special thank you to the community for awarding me the chance to be here!"
