Shawna Koll, our human resources manager, is celebrating 10 years with the District of Sicamous!
Shawna first joined the district in 2015 part of the finance team, working in an accountant role. In 2019, she transitioned into the newly created position of human resources manager – and has been leading the way ever since, shaping and supporting the staff team that serves the Sicamous community.
Before that? Fun fact: Shawna taught cooking classes as part of the District of Sicamous’ recreation programming!
“I love helping build teams that deliver services and make this a great place to live,” says Shawna.
If you’ve ever applied for a job with the district, there’s a good chances Shawna was the one who reviewed your application. From recruitment to employ relations, she’s your go-to for anything related to working with the District of Sicamous.
“My favourite thing about Sicamous is all the natural beauty of the lakes and mountains that surround us,” says Shawna, “There’s nothing better than spending a day out on the lake!”
- Coffee or tea? Coffee, of course.
- Morning or evening? Shawna’s up with the birds – definitely a morning person.
- Planner style in life and at work? Paper all the way.
- Cats or dogs? Dogs – no question!
When she’s not building great teams at work, you’ll probably find Shawna in the kitchen creating something delicious. “I love to cook and feed people,” she shares.
