Chris Wilson has been a dedicated member of the Sicamous Fire Rescue team for 22 years. Since joining the department in 2002, Chris has been committed to serving the Sicamous community and upholding the values of teamwork, safety and service, always stepping up for his team and his community.
“Firefighting has taught me that resilience isn’t just about facing challenges head-on – it’s about standing together as a community,” says Captain Wilson. “Every call we respond to reminds me of the strength we find in unity and the importance of being there for one another when it matters most.”
As a captain, Wilson takes on several key responsibilities. He oversees truck maintenance, leads training programs, manages team members and works closely with the fire chief and deputy fire chief on major community initiatives.
“I’m proud to inspire others who aspire to become firefighters or continue their journey in this field,” shares Captain Wilson.
Throughout his time with Sicamous Fire Rescue, Captain Wilson has developed a deep appreciation for community safety and the power of resilience. His leadership helps ensure that the department runs efficiently and effectively, fostering a strong and supportive team environment.
Captain Wilson describes one of the most rewarding parts of firefighting as collaborating with a fantastic community on meaningful projects.
“To date, the best advice I’ve heard is ‘don’t be a load – be an inspiration,’” comments Captain Wilson. “This mindset drives me to lead by example.”
Outside of firefighting, Wilson is passionate about family and motorcycles. Professionally, Wilson works as the emergency program coordinator for the Tŝilhqot’in National Government in Williams Lake. Balancing service, work and personal interests takes dedication – but for Wilson, it’s worth it to live a well-rounded and impactful life.
Sicamous Fire Rescue is proud to have Captain Wilson as a part of our team. His dedication, leadership and passion contribute to the spirit of Sicamous Fire Rescue. We thank him for his service and ongoing commitment to keeping our community safe!
