Say hello to Tony Thompson, chief operator for water distribution and key member of our hardworking utilities team! Known for his quick wit and ability to bring laughter to any room, Tony is a true team player who takes pride in keeping our community’s water flowing.

Tony has been with the District of Sicamous for nearly four years, drawn here from Lumby by his interest in living closer to water and embracing the small-town feel of the community.

“I enjoy my daily work,” Tony shares. “Especially working in a team environment.”

Following in his father’s footsteps in municipal work, Tony began his career in the arena and recreation world before moving into public works. After many late nights and weekend shifts, an opportunity opened in waterworks. That’s when he decided to further his education and commit to building a career in water.

Outside of work, Tony is happiest on the water. He enjoys boat camping, fishing with his family and spending time with his two dogs, Remi and Chinook. Recently, Tony has found a new passion for exploring the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail trail and making use of the community’s new ferry service. “What an awesome addition to the recreation in our community,” he says.

The District of Sicamous is grateful to have Tony at the helm of water distribution!
