The R.W. Bruhn Bridge & Approaches Project is reaching a major milestone with girder installation beginning March 4, 2026. Nearby residents may hear intermittent noise associated with installation and bolting activities.
From March 4 to mid-May 2026, this work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days per week. Residents may hear intermittent clanking or grinding during this time.
Though crews will be working seven days per week, there will be no changes to the regular Highway 1 closure schedule.
Bridge girders are the main horizontal support beams for the new bridge decks. The new R.W. Bruhn Bridge will have five lines of girders, each with nine segments that will be bolted together in the field.
