Portable digital radar signs are the latest addition to roadsides in the District of Sicamous.
Displaying the speed of passing vehicles and collecting data, these new gadgets will be used to monitor and manage speeding in problem areas.
Earlier this year, the District of Sicamous qualified for $13,250 in funding through the Vision Zero Grant Program. In accordance with the grant application, the funds were used to purchase portable digital radar signs to address speeding in problem areas, collect speed statistics and determine where additional speed calming measures are needed.
Because the radar signs are portable, the District of Sicamous can respond to emerging problem areas to ensure that traffic data is collected and traffic calming measures are considered to keep our roadways safe. The signs are making their debut on either end of the Sicamous Dog Park leading to Old Town Road. Areas that may be monitored in the future include school zones and main streets in residential areas.
