Shuswap Showdown Recap

On July 19, Sicamous proudly hosted the Shuswap Showdown strongman competition! Despite a soggy start to the day, the event ran smoothly and brought impressive displays of strength to our community.

As first-time hosts, the District of Sicamous was thrilled to partner with Braedeen Siddall and Rory Macgregor of Dopamine Strength Corporation in Armstrong, along with their incredible team of volunteers. Their support and organization helped make the event a success.

The competition drew 30 participants, including 29 from across British Columbia and one all the way from Ottawa. While the rain may have kept some spectators at home, those who braved the weather brought great energy to the day. They cheered on competitors, enjoyed tunes provided by Lee’s Music, grabbed hot dogs and snacks from Mum’s Hot Dog Cart and relaxed with refreshments in the beverage garden hosted by the Sicamous Curling Club.

The excitement doesn’t stop there. Competitors are already looking forward to next year! The 2026 Shuswap Showdown is scheduled for May and will move indoors to the Sicamous & District Recreation Centre. We’re also adding a CrossFit competition on day two! Stay tuned for more details this fall.

Thank you to all of the competitors, volunteers, organizers and spectators who came out to enjoy this event in Sicamous!
