Outdoor burning of yard waste is permitted in the District of Sicamous from March 29 to April 19, 2026.

Outdoor Burning Bylaw No. 452, 2002 ensures the safety and health of our community during periods of outdoor burning. In Sicamous, periods of outdoor burning are prescribed in April and October.

If you are planning on burning yard waste this April, please remember:

• Fires must not be more than one metre in diameter or exceed one metre in height.
• Burning barrels must be equipped with a spark arrestor to prevent the emission of sparks and ash.
• Fires must be continuously controlled and supervised by a competent person.
• To prevent your yard waste from smoking, start your fire with a clean, seasoned wood to ensure a hot fire. Add small amounts of damp materials periodically to keep it hot.

Please note that the Outdoor Burning Bylaw is subject to provincial fire bans and restrictions. As of March 24, 2026, there are no open burning prohibitions in effect in the Kamloops Fire Centre.
