Crews from BC Wildfire, the Malakwa Fire Department and the Sicamous Fire Department are in the mop-up stage this morning of a fire which broke out yesterday, May 29 in the Two Mile area near Sicamous. An air tanker was brought in, as well as ground crews, who used water from a nearby creek to help control the blaze. The fire area was estimated at 0.2 hectares. Crews will continue their efforts to ensure the blaze is completely extinguished today, May 30. The fire is suspected to be human-caused, so residents are reminded to always use caution with fire or other heat sources, as areas are already drying out.
