The new Kappel Street (West) water main tie in was completed on September 7, 2023. The tie in included nine main-line valves and 27 private residential services. The dedication and careful collaboration between the contractor, design engineer and District staff resulted in the completion of all three tie-ins and water service being restored.

Road construction work began with the removal of material to prep the subbase for the road base material. Re-building will occur over the next couple of weeks.

Materials for building the road base will arrive on-site next week. The contractor will spread the base material so that road re-building can begin over the next couple of weeks. This means that truck traffic, heavy machinery will cause vibrations in the area. Once the base work is completed and Kappel is built to accommodate an active transportation lane along the south side, paving is scheduled to occur in mid-October.

Ditching and road construction works has started west of Riverside to the boat launch.

The project remains on schedule, and we thank the residents for their ongoing patience as we move into the final stage of this important capital project.
