The Sicamous Backcountry Riders are taking on the restoration of the historic Cache Cabin at Owlhead this summer, and the Shuswap Trail Alliance is calling for community volunteers to help transport lumber and construction materials in from the Owlhead FSR to the cabin. The work day will involve foot transport of materials over roughly 400m of hiking trail. Meet at the parking area at the bottom of Owlhead FSR (at the end of McLean-MacPherson Road in Sicamous) to shuttle to the trailhead.

The Cache Cabin was built in 1907, and was the halfway point for rangers traveling to the Mara Mountain Fire lookout (a two-day ride). The cabin is currently suffering its age with a crumbling front porch and a door stuck shut, however the restoration work will maintain its historical nature.
